A world-class rosé. We're in love. During a tasting, we were pleasantly surprised by this Pinot Grigio Blush Rosé. Our oenologists were relatively unfamiliar with Moldovan rosés. However, this blush Rosé turned out to be a bull's-eye. The wine is produced by the Salcuta winery, which has been in business for less than twenty years. Despite Moldova's bureaucracy and challenging economic circumstances, Salcuta has risen to become a major winery. We already export to many Western countries and are truly putting Moldova on the map as a wine country.
The vineyards in Moldova
When you think of Moldova, a flourishing wine industry doesn't immediately spring to mind. However, wine has been produced here for six centuries. It all began in the late Middle Ages, when Moldova was still a kingdom. Its heyday was in the 19th century. However, due to Soviet intervention, the wine industry collapsed. Since Moldova regained independence in 1991, various wineries have flirted with the international wine drinker. More and more people are discovering the unparalleled quality of Moldovan wines, thanks in part to the tireless efforts of the Salcuta winery.
Impressions of Pinot Grigio Blush Rosé
Salcuta is located in Moldova's most beautiful wine region, Stefan Voda. The country's finest, most magical wineries are found in this southeastern area. Like many other wineries, Salcuta focuses on traditional, primarily French grape varieties. However, it also has several vineyards growing Pinot Grigio, a favorite from Italy. By briefly fermenting the dark skins, the wine acquires an attractive salmon-pink color. Our vinologists describe the aroma and flavor as elegant, surprising, and delightful. You'll discover summery notes of strawberry and raspberry, as well as distinct notes of fresh pear and fragrant peach. Salcuta Pinot Grigio Blush Winemaker's Way is refreshing, thirst-quenching, and your ideal rosé as soon as the sun shines.
