From generation to generation
Bourgeois Winery was founded in 1950 by Henri Bourgeois, starting with just 2 hectares. It has since grown to 65 hectares. They are located in the hamlet of Chavignol, in the heart of Sancerre. This location is known for its steep slopes and abundant sunshine, allowing the grapes to benefit greatly during the ripening process. Bourgeois Winery produces a wide range of wines, maximizing the authenticity of the various terroirs. Today, the tenth generation is at the helm, and the expertise has been passed down from father to son. Furthermore, the emphasis is on respect for the soil and traditional winemaking techniques, without losing sight of modern techniques.
Les Baronnes is made from grapes grown in vineyards between Chavignol and Sancerre. The vines are planted on slopes in a subsoil composed of a mixture of clay and limestone. This results in a wine with a lively and fruity character, with typical Sauvignon aromas. To preserve this, fermentation takes place at a low temperature, between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius, in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats. This is followed by five months of aging on the fine lees. This gives Les Baronnes a beautifully ripe and rich character.
The smell and taste of Henri Bourgeois Sancerre Les Baronnes
The aroma reveals citrus fruit and a hint of gooseberry and minerals. The taste of this Sancerre Les Baronnes Henri Bourgeois is fantastic, full-bodied, and complex! The old vines, over 30 years old, give the wine its concentration. Beautiful citrus notes, minerals, and apple! Delicious as an aperitif or with curry, cod, and lightly aged goat cheese.
