The best Chilean winemakers
Santa Helena was founded in 1942 with exports in mind. And with exports today to over 50 countries across five continents, this goal has been quite successful. The wines are typically Chilean and all easy to drink. Santa Helena wines are produced by a superb team of winemakers dedicated to reaching the qualitative potential of each vineyard. The grapes for this Carmenere are harvested mechanically. This is followed by rigorous selection and quality control. Only the very best grapes are chosen for juice production. Fermentation takes place on added yeast strains. Before the alcoholic fermentation was complete, the skins were removed to allow the final fermentation without the skins, resulting in a smoother wine.
The vinification of Santa Helena Reserva Siglo de Oro Chardonnay
Chardonnay is produced using the latest international techniques to extract all the aromas and flavors from the grapes. This involves harvesting the grapes at night and in the morning to prevent the must from fermenting on its way from the vineyard to the winery. Fermentation takes place with the inclusion of selected yeasts in steel tanks at relatively cool temperatures for 21 days. Twenty-five percent of the wine is aged for three months in French and American oak barrels to give the wine the desired structure and complexity. The tannins thus obtained give the wine an enchanting structure and finesse.
A typical Chilean Chardonnay. It has a straw-yellow color in the glass. It's an intense and honest wine with notes of tropical fruit (pineapple), pears, stone fruit, and a hint of vanilla. Pure, fresh, and with an elegant, smooth finish.
