The vineyards of Santa Helena

Founded in 1942, the Santa Helena winery has been producing quality Chilean wines for decades. Its main winery is located in San Fernando, deeply rooted in the Colchagua Valley. Santa Helena is one of the largest producers in this region, cultivating over 430 hectares. Most of the vineyards were planted over 90 years ago. The wines from this region, affected by the climate, are produced traditionally using modern cellar technology and are recognized worldwide. Santa Helena is part of the VSPT group, but remains an independent winery. This affiliation with VSPT allows for significant investments, which benefits the quality of the wine. The Merlot is harvested between mid-February and early March. Controlled fermentation takes place in steel tanks at approximately 24-26 degrees Celsius over a period of 7-10 days. Selected yeasts are added to the must to allow for controlled fermentation with the abundant extraction of all the natural flavors and colors. After fermentation, the skins are separated from the young wine to preserve its freshness and fruitiness. No storage in wooden barrels is required to produce a young and uncomplicated wine.

What does Santa Helena Varietal Merlot taste like?

A light Merlot with the color of red plums. Upon pouring, you can immediately enjoy the delicious aromas of berries, blackberries, cherries, strawberries, and plums. We also note notes of herbs, a touch of tobacco, and vanilla. The palate boasts velvety tannins and mild acidity. A wine that's easy to drink. Thanks to its smooth character, this Merlot is a true all-rounder. It pairs beautifully with a wide variety of cuisines, from stews and Mexican tortillas to delicious pasta.
