All Italian wines are known for their class and elegance. When Italian wines also boast a rich history, they're definitely worth trying. One such historic and elegant Italian wine brand is undoubtedly Sartori. The Soave Classico is the wine that uniquely reflects Sartori's art of winemaking.
The centuries-old Sartori winery
Sartori wines have been on the market for about 100 years, but their wines remain highly sought after because they offer a perfect blend of modern innovations and traditional winemaking techniques. The Veneto-based wine brand was founded in 1898 when Pietro Sartori purchased the Villa Maria vineyard in the Valpolicella district of Veneto. The 2002 vintage proved quite remarkable for Sartori when the company joined Cantina Colognola in Italy, a great opportunity to utilize the 6,200 hectares of excellent vines in the Valpolicella and Soave zones.
The Soave vineyards are located approximately 30 kilometers east of Verona. The vines are planted on the southern slopes of Monte Lessini, which protect the area from the cold winds. Some are planted on volcanic soil, while the rest are on marl. The grapes are carefully harvested at peak ripeness. In the winery, the grapes are gently pressed and a short period of cold maceration follows. Fermentation then takes place at a low temperature. Finally, the wine is aged for a period, mostly in stainless steel tanks and a small portion in small and medium-sized oak barrels.
What does Sartori Soave Classico taste like?
The Soave Classico is pale yellow in color, releasing a pure and refined aroma. It offers notes of exotic fruit, blossom, and white fruit, with a hint of stone fruit. The Soave has a fresh attack, resulting in a pleasantly dry palate. It is pleasantly minerally, with a characteristic bitterness of almonds on the finish.
