Schlumberger, a beautiful Austrian winery with a rich history. Over 175 years ago, the German Robert Schlumberger moved from France to Austria to be with his beloved. This meant leaving his stellar career at Ruinart Champagne. With all the knowledge he had gained in France, he wanted to create an Austrian sparkling wine in Austria, near Vienna. To this day, Robert Schlumberger's wines are a global success.
Sparkling wine from Grüner Veltline
This Schlumberger Grüner Veltliner, as the name suggests, is made from Grüner Veltliner. This is quite unusual, as not many sparkling wines are made from it. However, it has proven to be a great success. This Schlumberger Grüner Veltliner is currently one of Schlumberger's best-selling wines. Upon pouring, the light greenish color and the fine mousse are immediately noticeable. The aroma reveals fresh aromas of apple, pear, citrus fruit, and a touch of pepper! The taste is beautifully smooth and pleasantly acidic, with notes of apple, pear, flowers, and minerals! The finish is flavorful and refreshing. A wine that lends itself perfectly to asparagus but also certainly as an aperitif.
The scent and taste of Schlumberger Gruner Veltliner
The Grüner Veltliner grapes for this Schlumberger are grown in Lower Austria. This region is perfect for white grapes, as the daytime temperatures are relatively warm and the nights quite cool. This allows the grapes to ripen beautifully while also retaining a pleasant freshness. Schlumberger doesn't own its own vineyards but has, from the very beginning, had contracts with wine families who grow the grapes under contract for Schlumberger. Currently, over 350 families care for these perfect grapes. Together with Schlumberger, they do everything they can to maintain the quality year after year so that we can enjoy all the beauty Schlumberger has to offer for many years to come.
