Sebastiani has an impressive history. The winery was founded in 1904 by Italian immigrant Samuele Sebastiani. He came not to grow wine, but to work in San Francisco. He was captivated by the beauty of Sonoma and saw potential for viticulture. At that time, the area was primarily populated by farmers. Sebastiani was one of the first to commercially plant grapes on a large scale, including Zinfandel. Now, 100 years after the founding of this powerful winery, Sebastiani Zinfandel remains one of Sebastiani's best-selling wines.

Zinfandel: The Pride of California

When you think of Zinfandel, California immediately comes to mind. Zinfandel arrived in California around 1820 and has remained ever since. To this day, Zinfandel remains the most widely planted grape variety in California, including at Sebastiani. Because Sebastiani was active in this area early on, this winery owns the finest vineyards. The grapes for Sebastiani Zinfandel are primarily grown in Dry Creek, a wine region in central Sonoma. The ample warmth and sunlight, combined with the proximity of the ocean, allow the grapes to ripen optimally.

The smell and taste of Sebastiani Zinfandel

Anyone tasting this Zinfandel might be reminded of an Italian Primitivo. This isn't surprising, as these two grapes are genetically very similar. They grow similarly, and their flavor characteristics are also nearly identical. When you study the aroma of Sebastiani Zinfandel, you'll slowly fall in love with it. You'll clearly recognize raspberries, blackberries, blackberries, and a hint of sweet spice. A very pleasant and appealing aroma; you can't wait to take a sip of Sebastiani Zinfandel. You taste so much, so much! Berries, blackberries, herbs, and a delicate peppery note. Wonderful with a variety of dishes, or simply because you're craving a delicious glass of red wine.
