In the Lombardy region, there's a very small DOC, namely San Martino Della Battaglia. Only the Tuchi grape is permitted to be grown here. It's a difficult DOC with many challenges, which is why only a few wines were made from it. Thanks to Selva Capuzza, this appellation comes to life even more with this fresh wine with a unique character.

The history of Selva Capuzza Campo del Soglio San Martino

The Campo del Soglio San Martino was first released in 1988 with the aim of reviving this wine from obscurity. Every effort was made to vinify it to the highest possible quality. In 2008, the name Tocai was banned because it was confusing with the Hungarian grape Tokaji. The wine had long been deeply rooted in the San Martino DOC. For this reason, the label was questionable for the first few years. But after a while, it was renamed Tuchi, as they were called in the local dialect. However, most local winemakers had long since uprooted their vines. The Selva Capuzza winery was one of the few that hadn't done so and still produces beautiful wines from this grape today. The grapes are carefully and entirely harvested by hand. The grapes are then transported directly to the winery in crates. Here, they are gently pressed and destemmed. Temperature-controlled fermentation then takes place in steel tanks. The wine is then aged for approximately two months before bottling. Aging in stainless steel tanks further enhances the wine's aromas.

Enjoy the aromatic Campo del Soglio San Martino

With a pale yellow color, this Campo del Soglio San Martino radiates in the glass. The aromas of herbs like fennel and sage, as well as tropical fruits like peach and pineapple, are clearly evident on the nose. These aromas are complemented by notes of almond and white blossom. The palate is a characterful wine with a light body and crisp acidity. Beautifully balanced with a delightful freshness and a hint of bitterness in the finish.
