Sereole is a cru in the Soave Classica region, Monte Tondo, located between the municipalities of Soave and Monteforte d'Alpone. The soil is clay-loam with good amounts of organic matter, which enriches and brings out the typical notes of this grape variety. A beautifully pure Soave with plenty of power and suppleness—that's what this Serole Bertani stands for. Another remarkable feature is that this Soave is aged in oak. Fermentation takes place in large wooden barrels, which give this Soave Serole its beautiful characteristics.
The unprecedented quality of Bertani
Bertani is a historic winery in both the Veneto region and throughout Italy. Founded in 1857 by brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bersani, they began cultivating their own grapes. They were always considered innovators, both in the vineyards and in the cellars. By experimenting with new techniques, they succeeded in creating incredibly high-quality wines that were surprising and unique at the time. In the mid-20th century, they acquired the Villa Novare estate in the Valpolicella region, along with its 220 hectares of vines from which the world-famous Amarone Bertani was produced. Today, Bertani produces approximately 2,000,000 bottles of wine from the Valpolicella, Lugana, and Bardolino regions.
6 months of wood aging for Bertani Soave Sereole
The Garganega grapes are trained Pergola-Veronese at a density of 3,000 plants per hectare and vertically trellised at a density of 5,000 plants per hectare. Harvesting takes place by hand in October. The grapes are destemmed and gently crushed with partial skin contact at a low temperature of 45 degrees Celsius, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature of around 60 degrees Celsius in French oak barrels. Aging takes place on the lees in large wooden barrels for approximately six months, followed by at least three months of bottle aging.
The Soave Sereole Bertani is a sparkling pale yellow with a greenish hue. It has an inviting and pure aroma with nuances of apple, peach, flowers, vanilla, and a delicate hint of almond. It has a soft, dreamy flavor and is wonderfully full and juicy with a subtle oaky note on the finish. On the palate, we detected hints of pineapple, apple, melon, and hints of green herbs like mint. What a gem!
