The story of SopraSasso begins in the early 20th century in Venice. Merchant Francesco Sasso was often found there. In 1912, he and his son began selling wine from the Veneto hinterland. In the 1950s, Sergio Sasso, Francesco's son, decided to move to Verona to begin producing wine on a large scale in this region. By the 1970s, the winery in Sona was one of the largest commercial wineries in Italy. Today, SopraSasso is a global leader, exporting to all major wine-producing countries worldwide.

The Corvina grape from SopraSasso

The Corvina grape, a top grape native to Italy, plays a starring role in this wine. It's one of the most important grapes in the Valpolicella region, where it's often used in blends to make the wines easily accessible. However, Corvina can also produce beautiful wines on its own, such as the Sopra Sasso Rosso Veronese. Fruity, accessible, and easy to drink, yet with a healthy body. The grapes are all sourced from Sopra Sasso's own vineyards. This allows the winery to guarantee the stunning quality of Sopra Sasso Rosso Veneto.

Impressions of Sopra Sasso Rosso Veronese

A beautiful glass of wine, the flavors of which are even more pronounced when slightly chilled. Just below room temperature, the aromas develop so much more beautifully. The aroma immediately reveals the vibrant red fruit: red berries, cherries, and a hint of raspberry. It practically bursts from the glass. The freshness of SopraSasso Rosso Veronese is also evident on the nose. Time for a sip, because we can hardly wait! Juicy, fresh, yet with the necessary body. The SopraSasso Rosso Veronese is perfectly balanced throughout. The distinctive fruit is clearly present on the palate. In our opinion, it's a perfect aperitif or pairs well with poultry or various salads.
