For this Souterrains Gamay, we are located in the French region of Touraine. Here, Domaine des Souterrains operates according to Terra Vitis, which means respecting the environment and operating sustainably. This vineyard landscape offers optimal exposure, protection from wind, and good drainage of rainfall. The Gamay vines are planted on flint clay soil, which imparts beautiful characteristics to the final wine. Domaine des Souterrains produces a very fruity red wine from this.
The vineyards of Domaine des Souterrains

In 1820, the des Souterrains estate was founded in the heart of the Cher Valley. They own approximately 23 hectares, where they cultivate with great respect for nature. Today, Nicolas Mazzesi and his wife are at the helm. They understand better than anyone how to manage the high quality and strong potential of their vineyard. They then decided to elevate it to the highest quality level. For 10 years, they worked tirelessly on their estate, from the vineyard to winemaking and aging. It's no wonder their wines are featured in many renowned restaurants.
This red wine is made from 100% Gamay grapes. Gamay is a grape from the Beaujolais region and is also grown in the Loire Valley. The grapes are carefully harvested and then taken directly to the winery. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for 8 to 10 days. The temperature is monitored daily. Finally, the wine rests in the same tanks for several months.
