Looking for the approachability of Merlot, but with a slightly more exciting twist? Then try Stemmari Merlot. Sourced from the finest vineyards along Sicily's southern coast, the Sicilian soil imparts a wealth of character, giving Stemmari Merlot a touch more depth. A must-have for any Italian wine enthusiast.
The vinification of Stemmari Merlot
This Stemmari Merlot offers much more than you might expect. The grapes grow in stunning vineyards, amidst Sicily's beautiful landscape. The grapes are grown along the entire southern coast of this breathtaking Italian island. Because Stemmari owns many hectares, they can precisely select which grapes thrive in which location. Furthermore, the coast is only thirty kilometers from the Stemmari vineyards, allowing a fresh breeze to blow through the Merlot-filled vineyards at night. The grapes for Stemmari Merlot are fermented after harvest and then aged in French oak for 10 months. This oak is at least two to three years old. This reduces the flavor imparted by the barrel, but it also keeps Stemmari Merlot pleasantly accessible.

Time to discover this all-rounder from the Stemmari winery for ourselves. We were very curious about this wine, partly because of the winery's stellar reputation. Quickly grabbed a glass and poured this gem. On the nose, we detected fruit. A lot of fruit. The taste is surprisingly fresh. A lush bouquet unfolds on your palate. You taste fresh strawberries, raspberries, and a hint of blackcurrant. Stemmari Merlot is a delight, leaving you wanting another sip. Enjoy this red wine from Sicily as an aperitif. However, it also pairs well with various dishes such as paella, pizza, tapas, or chicken dishes.
