A quintessential Italian grape variety, perfectly mastered by the winemakers at Stemmari. You can taste the craftsmanship. Nero D'Avola is found throughout Italy, but especially on its native island: Sicily. Stemmari is a winery that chose Sicily as its home because the conditions there are perfect. Furthermore, the winery is committed to sustainable viticulture. All wines are produced with great attention to the environment and nature. Stemmari was also the first in Italy to receive a sustainability certificate in 2002.
The vineyards of Stemmari
Stemmari's vineyards are spread throughout the southern part of Sicily. Nero d'Avola grapes grow further west, where the conditions are ideal. They grow around the small village of Sambuca di Sicilia, where Stemmari's beautiful house is also located. The soil's small size gives Stemmari Nero d'Avola a necessary dryness and ripeness in the wine. Harvest takes place in the first week of September. After vinification, Stemmari Nero d'Avola is given a light but subtle oak aging. The red wine is aged in French oak for six months.
