This white Branu wine from the Vermentino di Gallura region is the king's wine from the Surrau winery. A small vineyard on the island of Sicily produces some of the finest Vermentino grapes on the island. Because the vineyard is situated in a completely separate location, this Branu develops its own unique character. Thanks in part to the granite soil structure and the extensive pruning in the vineyard, the grapes truly get everything they need. A life fit for a king, we can safely say, because the winemaker is proud of his top-quality Vermentino grapes.
The ideal conditions for Vermentino grapes
The Surrau winery, founded in 2004, is located a few kilometers from the sea on the island of Sardinia. The soil here consists of granite rocks formed by water and wind. The subsoil consists primarily of granite and sand and is rich in fossils. This makes it excellent for growing grapes, as the vines can establish deep roots. The soil, combined with the unique microclimate of significant temperature differences between day and night, allows the grapes to develop exceptionally well.
Enjoy a fruity white wine from Surrau
Under the supervision of the owner of the Surrau winery, the Vermentino grapes are harvested in the morning. This allows the grapes to arrive at the press in peace, which is crucial for the freshness of this white wine. To prevent any adverse effects from the warm weather during harvest, the grapes are immediately chilled after being destemmed and crushed. Finally, the wine is bottled young, allowing it to retain its wonderful freshness. As soon as you pour it into the glass, you'll see a very attractive golden color. The aroma offers abundant fruity notes of white and yellow fruit, complemented by green herbs and minerals. The palate is stunning, full-bodied and aromatic without losing its freshness, with abundant notes of apricots, limes, apples, and pears on the palate. The finish is beautifully balanced by the interplay of herbs and tannins.
