The grapes for this wine are sourced from the Cachapoal vineyard. This region boasts beautiful old vines. The Carmenère was planted here as early as 1950. The result is a high-quality wine. And we can only agree: what a delicious, powerful, and intense wine.
Tabali is a unique winery. Each of their vineyards boasts a distinctive terroir, a fact that is highly prized by wine lovers who appreciate wines with character. The winery is a pioneer and the greatest innovator in developing viticulture in the Limari Valley. Against all advice, Guillermo Luksic planted his first vineyards here in the early 1990s.
The harvest and vinification of Tabali Pedregoso Gran Reserva Carmenere
The grapes grow on a north-facing slope, allowing them to ripen well thanks to the hours of afternoon sunshine. The subsoil consists of weathered granite, which allows the vines to root deeply and thus extract abundant minerals. The grapes must ripen for a long time to develop ripe acidity and tannin, which is why the harvest is late, reaching as late as early June. Every task in the vineyard, from pruning to harvesting, is carefully supervised by the Tabali family to obtain the highest quality fruit. The grapes are harvested by hand in twenty-kilo bins to prevent damage to the fruit. The grapes are carefully selected. Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The wines are aged in French oak barrels for ten months before bottling.
How does this red wine taste?
Deep red in color, almost black, with violet reflections. The Tabali Pedregoso Gran Reserva Carmenère has an exceptionally elegant and complex aroma, reminiscent of black fruit and chocolate, framed by notes of black pepper. The tannins are soft and supple, and the excellent harmony of the oak and fruit gives this wine complexity and depth. The finish is long and elegant. Classic fermentation of rigorously selected grapes in small stainless steel tanks with extended skin contact after fermentation. Aged for ten months in French oak.
