The Toro region is somewhat less well-known, but boasts several high-quality vineyards that will captivate many winemakers. The Tinto Roriz grape is commonly grown in the region. It's a clone of the well-known Tempranillo grape. Telmo Rodriguez wanted to highlight the region's potential with the G Dehasa Gago and has created a wine made entirely from the Tinto de Toro grape. On the region's sandstone soils, the grape develops beautifully into a drinkable red wine with a fine structure.

The vineyards of G Dehesa Gago

Telmo Rodriguez's life was dominated by wine from an early age. He spent his childhood at his father's winery and earned his oenology degree early on in Bordeaux. In 1994, he embarked on a unique project, which would later be considered perhaps the most ambitious in Spanish winemaking history. He began pressing the finest wines possible in various Spanish wine regions. He collaborates with numerous oenologists in different areas to enhance local wines. The distinctive character of each region is central. The vineyards are situated at a perfect altitude, allowing the grapes to benefit from an excellent climate. The diverse soil types make the wine unique and give it its own distinct character. Telmo has partnered with several families in the Toro region. They practice traditional viticulture. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and transported in boxes to the cellar. Here, fermentation with indigenous yeasts follows. This, along with the aging, takes place in stainless steel tanks. After six months of rest, it's time to enjoy the G Dehesa Gago.

How does the Telmo Rodriguez G Dehesa Gago taste?

A scent of cherries, blackberries, chocolate, and a touch of spice entices you to take the first sip of this cherry-red wine. The aromas of the G Dehesa Gago are subtle. The palate is fruity, sultry, and fresh, and overall, it offers a soft mouthfeel.
