Made from 100% Garnache grapes from the Cebreros region near Madrid. The vines are planted on slate soils, giving the wine its name, Barrancos de Pizarre. The vineyards are located in Arrebatacapes, west of Madrid. It is one of the few places with slate soils, as granite predominates in this region. The vines are decades old and have developed a unique terroir on these soils, resulting in beautiful wines.

The mobile winemaker Telmo Rodriguez

Telmo Rodriguez is certainly one of the youngest winemakers in the Spanish wine industry. He studied in Bordeaux and later in the Rhône, where he learned many tricks of the trade. He was a winemaker at his father's estate, but he left around 1994 to embark on his own wine journey. He considers himself a driving winemaker. He lives in Madrid but travels throughout Spain, making wine in various regions. In a very short time, he has put not only himself but also his wines on the map. Beautiful, high-quality wines made from local grapes and local varieties. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness. They are then moved to containers and transported to the winery. Here, the grapes are destemmed and pressed, after which fermentation takes place with their own yeasts in wooden barrels. Finally, the finished wine is aged in barriques for an impressive 24 to 30 months. Because, yes, if you want the best of the best, you have to be patient.

Enjoy the juicy Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra

And it's more than worth the wait. The result is a radiant, deep ruby red wine. The aromas leap from the glass, with dominant notes of blackcurrant, cherry, spice, and earthy notes. It's a concentrated wine, deliciously juicy with plenty of mild tannins. The acidity balances everything out and concludes with a mineral finish. In short, a powerful, top-notch wine from sunny Spain.
