Tenuta Sette Ponti Crognolo Toscana

This beautiful wine is made from 100 percent Sangiovese grapes. The finest of the best, sourced from vineyards nestled on soils of pebbles and marl, gives this red wine its rich structure and minerality. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 250 meters near the Tuscan town of Arezzo, where the Sangiovese grapes enjoy the perfect climate and therefore ripen exceptionally well.

Completely manual harvest at Tenuta Sette Ponti

The Sette Ponti estate has been a Moretti family property since the 1950s, when Antonio's father, Alberto, purchased the first 50 hectares directly from Princesses Margherita and Maria Cristina of Savoia-Aosta. Located in the Chianti region, between Arezzo and Florence, it takes its name from the number of bridges that cross the Arno River between the two cities. The first of these bridges, the Buriano Bridge (13th century), can be seen in the background of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. The grape varieties planted are Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The soil ranges from clay to sandy, with some limestone. The vineyard is worked exclusively by hand. At peak ripeness, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand and transported to the winery in small 15-kilo crates. Here, the grapes are further selected for quality on the sorting tables. Because only the best is good enough. The grapes are then gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel vats for 20 days at a controlled temperature, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged in French oak barriques for 14 months. After this, the wine is bottled and rests in the bottle for a further 6 months.

The Crognolo Tuscany from Tenuta Sette Ponti is a ruby-red wine with intense aromas of blackcurrant, ripe cherries, violets, spices, vanilla, and leather. A full-bodied, elegant, and soft wine that is perfectly balanced. The palate offers abundant red fruit notes, such as forest berries and blackberries. Soft tannins fill the mouth, leading to a very long, lingering finish.
