The Passarina grape is an ancient white grape variety from Central Italy. Its name derives from the relatively small size of its berries. It is also called the golden grape because of its prestigious character. In the 1960s, the grape variety declined in popularity, but fortunately, the Passerina has since made a comeback.

The innovative winery Tenuta Ulisse

Tenuta Ulisse is considered a sophisticated and innovative winery, having successfully applied a modern twist to wines made from ancient indigenous grape varieties such as Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Passerina, and Cococciola. The vineyards are situated in the foothills of Abruzzo, between the mountains and the Adriatic Sea, resulting in a favorable climate for viticulture. The vines are planted at a moderate altitude and are alternately influenced by the cool sea breeze and the cool air currents from the high mountains. This results in wines with character and aromas. All wines from Tenuta Ulissa demonstrate the passion and dedication of the two brothers at the helm for winemaking. Antonio and Luigi Ulissa work diligently to ensure that the wines reflect the expressive and unique terroirs of Abruzzo and their high-quality wines. After harvesting, the grapes are cooled in a special cooling tunnel and cold macerated. Slow fermentation follows at a controlled temperature of 11 degrees Celsius in stainless steel tanks. Refining takes place in the steel tanks and then in the bottle.

Enjoy a fruity Passerina Terre di Chieti

The Passerina Terre di Chieti has a straw-yellow color with light greenish reflections. It truly bursts from the glass. The aromas are intense, with pleasant notes of peach, apricot, and grapefruit. The palate offers a complex, fruity, floral interplay and a fine minerality. It has a fresh acidity that develops into a beautiful finish. Ideal with appetizers, carpaccio and raw fish, shellfish, and fish-based first and second courses. Excellent with fresh or stretched curd cheese.
