This is Santadi's flagship wine, the large and mighty Terre Brune Superiore. A wine you'll never forget, as it represents the finest Sardinia has to offer. But producing such top-notch wine is a long and storied process. It was founded in 1960 when a group of winegrowers decided to join forces. They came together and joined forces to produce the island's finest wines. Initially, they only produced bulk wines, but with the arrival of new chairman Antonello Pilloni in 1970, the winery embarked on a new course. Antonello contacted top oenologist Giacomo Tachis, and together they mapped out everything. This proved to be a success, and today, Santadi Wines is known as the finest winery in Sardinia.

Wood aging for the Terre Brune Superiore

The winery has grown considerably and now boasts no less than 600 hectares of vineyards, the flagship vineyard of which is located in Carignano del Sulcis Superiore. Here, the old vines bear the Carignano and Bovaleddu grapes from which this red Terre Brune Superiore is made. The soil is the treasure trove of this wine, rich in limestone, volcanic subsoils, and some loose sand. This allows the vines to have very deep roots and easily absorb moisture and nutrients. Thanks to the ideal climate, with abundant sunshine and cool winds, the harvest is not large, but it is invaluable. All bunches are hand-harvested in small crates to protect them during transport to Santadi. The first fermentation takes place in oak barrels, after which the wine is aged for another eighteen months. Santadi's cellars house the finest French oak barrels. After aging, the wine is bottle-aged for at least another year in the cellars, giving it all the peace and quiet it needs to achieve the final result. A wine to really shout about, so beautiful.

Full and very powerful this Santadi Terre Brune Superiore

Sit back, relax, because we can tell you it's going to be a treat. We open the bottle and already smell hints of plums, blueberries, and sweet spices. Upon pouring, our eyes are met with a beautiful deep ruby red color and a wonderfully thick structure. The aroma is enchanting, with nuances of black fruit, tobacco, dark chocolate, and a touch of fresh herbs. On the palate, a full and powerful attack with plenty of ripe black fruit and a touch of spice. On the palate, spices like cinnamon, pepper, and bay leaf, along with vanilla and cedarwood. Later, as this Terre Brune Superiore settles into the mouth, it also reveals aromas of sweet cherry, smoke, and fine tannins.
