Merlot has been widely planted in South Tyrol since 1700. However, South Tyrol's origins lie with the Mezzacorona family, a little more recently. Nevertheless, the vineyards are among the finest that Northern Italy has to offer. The climate is excellent, with summers much milder than in the more southerly provinces. These conditions allow the Merlot grape to develop exceptionally well, and you can immediately taste that in Terre del Noce. Quality reigns supreme, and craftsmanship is evident.
