A wonderful, authentic Rosé from Provence. A beautiful interplay of the three grape varieties Grenache, Cinsault, and Carignan. A playful rosé with aromatic freshness on the nose and subtle fruity notes on the palate. Like its older sibling, the Whispering Angel Rosé, this rosé is also a beautiful example from the high-quality range of the Château d'Eclans winery.
The old vines of Chateau d'Eclans
The impressive Château d'Eclans winery, located in La Motta, was purchased by Sacha Lichine in 2006. They own 44 hectares of vines of various varieties and have an average age of no more than eighty years. The vines are planted on clay and sandstone soils. The primary grapes grown on the estate are Grenache and Vermentino. Other grapes grown on the estate include Cinsault, Merlot, Mourvedre, Syrah, and Tibouren. The vines are planted at varying altitudes, resulting in a wide range of flavor concentrations.
Harvest begins at sunrise and continues until midday, thus avoiding the heat of the day. During harvest, the grapes are selectively picked and placed in small crates. Large crates are deliberately used to prevent the grapes at the bottom from being crushed. They are hand-picked. Once the crates of grapes arrive at the winery, they are hand-sorted and destemmed. After pressing, the juices are blended for fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
