Located in the far north of Italy, the Tiefenbrunner winery was not exactly well-positioned. The reason they are now a leader in winemaking in Northern Italy is a combination of boundless passion, hard work, and sky-high quality. A quality they continuously improve and adapt, as is the case with the Tiefenbrunner Merus Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot. It is the latest addition to the ever-expanding Tiefenbrunner family. Once again, the current owners, Christof and Sabine Tiefenbrunner, prove that crafting perfect wines runs in their blood.

The Tiefenbrunner vineyards

Tiefenbrunner began as a small winery in the Alto Adige Valley. This region was long disputed between Italy and Austria. Ultimately, it became part of Italy, but Austrian influences are still evident today. The region is bilingual, and you'll also find typical Austrian grape varieties in the vineyards. In the 1960s, Tiefenbrunner was a popular stop for tourists traveling south. When the winery began modernizing, expanding, and improving in 1983, it became more focused on the commercial side of things. Thanks to these developments, Tiefenbrunner currently owns more than 20 hectares of vineyards in northern Italy.

Impressions of Tiefenbrunner Merus

For this red wine, Tiefenbrunner selected two classic Bordeaux grapes. After extensive research, it turned out that these two international all-rounders thrive in the Adige Valley. The significant elevation changes in the vineyards give the Tiefenbrunner Merus Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot a fresh and pleasant character. Both the aroma and the palate are remarkably balanced. Fresh and fruity, yet with a generous, full-bodied bite. You'll clearly recognize spring violets, summery blackberries, and crisp black currants. The rounded yet pronounced tannins make the Tiefenbrunner Merus Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot the perfect accompaniment to dishes in game season.
