Tormaresca Torcicoda

The Masseria Maime estate is located in one of Salento's most beautiful areas. Situated near the coastline, it boasts a stunning landscape dotted with woods. This allows the grapes to benefit from the fresh sea breeze and protect them from the abundant sunshine. Torcicoda refers to the instrument farmers used to tend their horses. The result is a fruity wine with an elegant structure.

Ten months of wood aging for Tormaresca Torcicoda

Since the 1990s, the Antinori family has been producing wines from the Tormaresca winery in the heel of Italy's boot. These are beautiful, high-quality wines that only improve with age. Since their arrival, wine production in southern Italy has boomed. They are located in two of Puglia's most important wine regions: Bocca di Lupo in Castel del Monte and Masseria Maime in Salento. Here, they use local grapes and have surprised many wine lovers. Organic wines are also starting to play a larger role. Their wines also regularly win awards, and for good reason. When the Primitivo grapes are slightly overripe, they are carefully harvested. In the cellar, they are then crushed and macerated on the skins. This maceration lasts for about 13 days in stainless steel tanks with gentle pumping. Alcoholic fermentation then takes place at a controlled temperature, after which the wine is transferred to French and Hungarian oak barrels. This Torcicoda matures for 10 months in these barrels and then for an additional 6 months in the bottle.

The aroma and taste of Tormaresca Torcicoda

With a ruby ​​red color, the Tormaresca Torcicoda radiates in the glass. Immediately, we delight in an intense aroma of fruity notes like plums that blend with spicy hints of licorice and vanilla. The mouthfeel is soft with an elegant tannic texture. A fine structure and a balanced flavor. The long, lingering finish completes the entire taste experience.
