One of the world's most famous grape varieties has been simply brought together here by the Torrevento winery. Torrevento E Arte Chardonnay is the textbook example of authentic Southern Italian wine culture blended with modern practices. The result is truly enchanting. Torrevento E Arte Chardonnay offers typical Chardonnay notes, but with a little something extra. There's plenty of yellow fruit, but also hints of wildflowers and citrus compose the rich palate. The acidity on the finish is striking, and rather than being disruptive, it's incredibly thirst-quenching.
The wines of Torrevento
Anyone tasting Torrevento E Arte Chardonnay for the first time might not immediately think of Puglia as their origin. Puglia has been the home of local varietals like Primitivo, Negroamaro, and Verdeca for decades. However, a growing number of international all-rounders are finding their way to southern Italy. Torrevento has also given these grapes a chance and established them in its vineyards, which are located in the northern half of Puglia. Uniquely, it is situated in a national park, meaning that sustainability standards are exceptionally high. Torrevento has also held the unique Equalitas certification, which praises its sustainability, for over twenty years.
The Chardonnay from Puglia
In the hilly landscape, situated on the best side for sunshine, the Chardonnay vines are neatly arranged in rows. This, combined with the rich limestone soil and the clay, ensures a moderate growing process that emphasizes the power of the Chardonnay grape. After harvest, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented. Only after four months of bottle aging can the general public enjoy Torrevento E Arte Chardonnay.
