Torrevento Vigna Pedale Castel del Monte Riserva DOCG
Vigna Pedale is a Nero di Troia with class: deep ruby red with a garnet hue, abundant juice, and an elegant, spicy finish. You'll taste ripe cherries and berries, subtle tobacco, and a lovely balsamic note, all in a Riserva that skillfully balances power and refinement.
Vineyards and region
Italy • Puglia • Castel del Monte DOCG • Contrada Pedale.
The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 400 to 500 meters on chalky clay. The freshness of the altitude and the Mediterranean sun combine to produce concentrated fruit with vibrant acidity. The vines are planted in a cordon speronato with approximately 4,500 plants per hectare, focused on ripeness and aromatic precision.
Vinification and maturation
Harvesting begins late in the season, from late October to early November, allowing Nero di Troia to fully mature. After a long maceration, the wine ferments at a controlled temperature. It then ages for eight months in stainless steel for fruit purity and for 12 months in large oak barrels. This large oak barrel provides oxygen and texture without overwhelming the fruit. At around 13% alcohol, the style remains powerful but never heavy.
Grape composition
Nero di Troia 100%. This Pugliese variety produces dark cherries and berries, a noble tannin structure, and a fresh, savory undertone that truly shines at the table.
Tasting notes and serving suggestions
Deep ruby red with garnet hues. The aroma reveals small red and black fruits, light oak notes, a hint of tobacco, and roasted spices. The palate is full and supple, with ripe tannins, a hint of red fruit jam, and a long, perfectly balanced finish. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees Celsius with grilled red meat, roasts, mature hard cheeses, and fine Italian cured meats.
Awards
Awarded Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso for ten consecutive years.
