This Valdespino Quina is unlike anything else. It's a new, innovative aperitif from Valdespino. Its dark color immediately brings to mind the sultry sensation of Valdespino: the Pedro Ximenez. But Valdespino Quina has much more to offer. It's slightly bitter thanks to the use of Cinchona. On the palate, notes of dried fruit like dates, raisins, and a hint of nutmeg also reveal themselves. The long yet warm finish creates a true explosion in your mouth.

The Spanish Sherry from Valdespino

Valdespino has a rich history dating back to the 13th century. It all began with Don Alfonso Valdespino. This man was one of the 24 knights who, in the name of King Alonso, recaptured the city of Jerez from the Moors. In gratitude, all the knights, including Valdespino, received a piece of land from the city of Jerez. In 1264, Don Alfonso Valdespino began cultivating wine, little imagining that 750 years later, Valdespino would become the leading producer of Sherry.

This Valdespino Quina is the result of a new project by Valdespino: Valdespino Aperitifs. For years, Valdespino has been leading in its Sherry wines, but after more than 7 centuries of craftsmanship, it is still innovative. This old sherry is macerated. This means that the old Oloroso wine, together with the classic Pedro Xeminez from this winery, is blended with natural ingredients, just like Vermouth. This results in an aperitif with a very aromatic taste.

Impressions of Valdespino Quina

The old Oloroso wines, created through the unique Solera system in the Sherry region, are blended with authentic ingredients. The most important is Cinchona bark. This bark is also used to extract quinine, a key ingredient in tonic water. The old sherry is also macerated with dried grapefruit and Valencian oranges. Combined with nutmeg and licorice, Valdespino Quina creates a wonderful, flavorful aperitif unlike any other.
