Villa Huesgen is located in Traben-Trarbach, Germany, and has a rich history dating back to 1735. The winery is currently led by Ado Huesgen, the eighth generation of winemakers in the family. With a deep love for the Mosel region and its steep slopes, they work passionately and dedicatedly in the vineyards, respecting both nature and the future. Villa Huesgen Riesling Auslese Enkircher Zeppwingert Edelsuss is produced from grapes grown on the steep slopes of the Enkircher Zeppwingert vineyard in the Starkenburger hills. The vineyard is known for its iron-rich quartzite soil and consists primarily of old, ungrafted vines with low yields. This results in very small grapes, yet incredibly flavorful. The grapes are foot-crushed in the winery, after which the juice remains in contact with the skins for several hours. The grapes are then pressed, and fermentation takes place. To give the wine a sweet taste, fermentation is stopped before all the sugars have converted into alcohol. The juice then remains in contact with the yeast cells for a long time, giving the wine added complexity.
