Villa Wolf Winery was founded in 1756 in the Palatinate and was a successful and respected winery for over two centuries. With the construction of the Italianate manor house and villa in 1843, it entered a remarkable era. After a declining period, Ernie Loosen took over. The vineyards were detached in 1996, causing a dramatic change in the winery's quality and reputation. Villa Wolf's goal is to produce wines that express the pure, authentic terroir of the Palatinate. The Rieslings are drier and full-bodied in the classic Palatinate style. Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, or Pinot Noir are also available. To maintain the naturally high quality of the vineyards, they rely on sustainable viticultural practices and attach great importance to the careful handling of the fruit through traditional, minimalist winemaking.

Manual harvest for Villa Wolf Pinot Gris

The Villa Wolf Pinot Gris vineyards are cultivated with respect for the environment and harvested by hand. The bunches are selected at optimal ripeness to produce a fresh and bright wine. Pinot Gris is an indigenous variety of the Palatinate. Villa Wolf Pinot Gris ferments in three types of tanks: stainless steel tanks, large neutral oak barrels, and cement tanks. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation to preserve its acidity, resulting in a fresh and lively wine. Some residual sugar remains to sweeten it slightly and balance the acidity. Finally, it is gently filtered and the blend is performed before bottling.

What does Villa Wolf Pinot Gris taste like?

Villa Wolf's Pinot Gris has a pale yellow color, immediately revealing the delicious fruity aromas of pear, ripe apple, and a hint of citrus. The flavor is slightly spicy, juicy, and dry with a pleasant acidity. The fruity notes also come through beautifully. This is a wine you'll find hard to stop at just one glass. Highly recommended!
