Von Winning wines have been an important part of German viticulture for decades. Thanks in part to their efforts, Riesling has become a source of national pride. Von Winning's vineyards are not particularly large, owning less than 40 hectares, but their dedication is unparalleled. Their vineyards are situated in some of the most beautiful locations in the Palatinate. A significant portion bears the Grosses Gewachts designation, the equivalent of the well-known Grand Cru. Von Winning also has a small vineyard, the Ungeheuer, with a remarkable history. Wine has been produced at the Ungeheuer vineyard for centuries. German historical figures such as Goethe and Otto von Bismarck were great fans of the wine from this vineyard.
