The vineyards of Domaine Guinand
Domaine Guinand, a winery located in the commune of Saint-Christol, a few kilometers from Montpellier, France, is run by the eighth generation of the Guinand family, Serge and Sophie. They took over the business in 2017 and have since placed a strong emphasis on producing authentic wines that respect the terroir and strive for sustainable agricultural practices. With a total of 65 hectares of vineyards, the Guinand family has a significant area dedicated to grape cultivation. This area is located approximately 25 kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea, which ensures a cooling breeze through the vineyards.
The Chardonnay grapes are grown on clay and limestone soils. After harvest, the grapes are pressed immediately to extract the juice without prolonged contact with the skins. The juice is then fermented at a low temperature, allowing the winemakers considerable control. The fruity aromas and freshness are the most important elements during fermentation. After fermentation, the wine is aged on lie for four months.
