The Champagne house Deutz has a long history and is very well-known and beloved among the French. What makes it most special is that the Champagne house remains family-owned today. The Deutz vineyards are located in the small village of Ay, and the wine cellar is also located behind the house. The long cellar is filled with the finest bottles of Champagne, where they are quietly maturing. Above the cellars, on the hillside, grow the vines that grow Pinto Noir, among other varieties. This premium Champagne bears its name after one of its founders, Mr. William Deutz.
The old Pinot Noir vineyard of Cuvee Hommage
We've certainly seen several top Champagnes made from a single grape variety. But this all-Pinot Noir is truly special, as all the grapes come from the La Côte Glacière and Meurtet vineyards. These vineyards are located above the cellars and are known for their powerful harvests. Hommage a William Deutz Meurtet 2012 is one of Champagne Deutz's unique single-varietal, single-plot Champagnes, made from 100% Pinot Noir from Meurtet. Hommage a William Deutz Meurtet is only the second vintage produced from this rare, 100% Pinot Noir plot and the first vintage produced as a single-vineyard expression. The Pinot Noir vines located on the southeast-facing slope of Meurtet were only planted in 1990 and are divided into two plots.
The smell and taste of the
This exceptional work of art, a tribute to William Deutz, one of the founders of this magnificent Champagne house, is truly exceptional. Founder William Deutz originally envisioned creating a Champagne from a single grape variety grown in the same region, but he never managed to bring it to fruition. This first Blanc de Noirs, an exceptional single-varietal creation, is made from the finest Pinot Noir grapes from the Meurtet (52%) and La Côte Glacière (48%) parcels in the iconic commune of Aÿ. The nose reveals aromas of peach, cultivated pear, apricot, Mirabelle plum, and subtle notes of honey and almond. A subtle expression of its prestigious terroir, it boasts a remarkable balance of freshness, purity, and complexity, resulting in a harmonious and elegant Champagne. The palate is rich and smooth with notes of white and yellow stone fruit, a beautiful minerality, and a hint of ginger. A truly unique piece of craftsmanship, available in very limited quantities!
