This white wine, Moonlighters White, from the RedHeads winery is a unique blend of three grape varieties: Viognier, Fiano, and Chardonnay. This wine originated from the beloved dog that always roamed the backyard in the evenings. The dog was very popular with the winemakers, and that's why they named this white wine Moonlighters.
A group of young Australian winemakers
A young group of winemakers in McLaren Valley have formed the RedHeads Studio winery. They are located in Tanuda, in the Barosso Valley of South Australia. It all began in an old restaurant of the same name, where a group of young winemakers strove to break away from the large wine cooperatives. They wanted to make their own wines in small volumes, focusing on quality. To achieve this, they partnered with local winemakers, buying various grapes and experimenting with them. They recently acquired 10 hectares of their own Shiraz vineyard in the Barosso Valley. And it's clear they're far from finished growing.
The grapes for this Moonlighters White are harvested by hand, followed by a rigorous selection process. To ensure high quality, only the finest juice is used. The grapes are then gently and quickly pressed early in the morning. Fermentation and aging take place in stainless steel tanks to preserve maximum freshness. And they certainly succeeded!
A soft fruity white wine from RedHeads
The result is a soft, crisp white wine. This Moonlighters White RedHeads has aromas of white blossom, apple, citrus, and apricot. The palate is round and creamy with nuances of citrus peel, minerals, apple, and white peaches. This RedHeads white wine pairs wonderfully with chicken in creamy mushroom sauce or stir-fried vegetables with seafood. Also try this wine with Thai fish cakes!
