Mount Riley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2025, New Zealand

The Mount Riley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2025 perfectly demonstrates why Marlborough is world-renowned for this grape. What makes the 2025 vintage special? An early growing season with excellent flowering ensured full bunches, followed by an exceptionally dry period until harvest. Cooler temperatures in January and February slowed ripening, allowing the grapes to hang longer on the vine and develop extra aromatic intensity.

This wine is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc and comes from various sub-regions within Marlborough.

Origin: Marlborough, New Zealand

The grapes come from multiple vineyards within Marlborough, combining Awatere Valley and Wairau Valley.

  • Awatere Valley: known for fresh acidity and aromatic tension.
  • Wairau Valley: yields riper fruit and more body.
  • Cool climate with long ripening: ensures intensely aromatic grapes.
  • This blend of regions provides balance between freshness and ripeness.

Grape and vinification

Sauvignon Blanc – Marlborough
Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough is known for its distinct aromatic character and fresh structure.

The grapes are destemmed and crushed, followed by pressing. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures with selected yeasts. This approach is entirely focused on preserving the aromatic expression of the grape.

Character and style

In the glass, this Sauvignon Blanc displays a light straw-yellow color with green reflections. The wine is characterized by aromas of citrus, passionfruit, gooseberry, and a slight herbaceousness. On the palate, it has a full yet refined structure, with a fresh, crisp finish.

The combination of longer ripening on the vine and cool fermentation creates an intensely aromatic yet balanced style.

Drinking window

This wine is already drinking well and can develop until approximately 2028.

Serve at around 8–10 °C to optimally experience its freshness and aromatic expression.
