The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

Alsace, a land of contrasts, boasts a wide variety of terroirs and landscapes. It enjoys a dry and temperate climate, boasts exceptionally favorable soils, and is ideally situated for its vineyards. And that's precisely where Pinot Blanc grapes are grown. The grapes are grown on the hills surrounding the village of Bergheim, where they benefit from the ideal climate to ripen perfectly.

The Balthazar Fry family, the first winegrowing family, established itself in Bergheim in 1748. Now, the seventh generation keeps the traditions alive, combining them with a contemporary philosophy and approach. They consistently strive for a balance between acidity, sweetness, and alcohol, with an emphasis on elegance. Quality is paramount and is therefore the goal. Environmental protection also plays a major role in viticulture, as only a living soil can convey the character of the terroir to the vine, so the idea goes. The winery owns a total of 33 hectares of vineyards, which have been certified organic since 2012. Nowhere else does Pinot Gris express itself as richly and completely as in Alsace.

While traditional winemaking methods, such as the use of oak barrels for part of the aging process, are maintained, Balthazar Fry has invested in modern technology. This embrace of modern elements ensures that this wine ages gracefully. The result is a pale yellow wine. The nose is exciting, a blend of floral, fruity, and spicy aromas with a slightly smoky finish and a hint of oak. The palate is incredibly rich and very creamy, finishing with a long, pleasant finish. If you're looking for a suitable wine to pair with a meal, this Pinot Gris is the perfect choice. It can be paired with a wide variety of dishes. Appetizers like pâté, salmon, or mackerel. It pairs well with both meat and fish dishes and is also very tasty with poultry.
