Vintage Report
The 2021 vintage in Tuscany received an excellent score of 95 points according to the Robert Parker vintage chart. The wines from this year show exceptional quality, although they are still very youthful and tannic with great aging potential.
Mormoreto is the grand wine of Castello di Nipozzano, from the Mormoreto vineyard planted in 1976. The first vintage was from the 1983 harvest, and since then, this wine has been made only in the very best vintages. Since 2013, the elegance of the Sangiovese grape has partly given way to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. These grapes were planted a full 150 years ago and today make this red Mormoreto even fuller and more powerful. Mormoreto is a wine of great power, richness, and refinement that can age for many years.
The ancient Tuscan vineyard of Mormoreto
The grapes are harvested by hand from the Mormoreto vineyard in 15 kg crates. After an initial sorting of the various clusters on the vine, they are selected again upon arrival at the cellar. This attention to detail ensures the highest possible quality. The beautifully ripe juice is aged for a total of two years in French oak barrels. The long period in the Frescobaldi cellar gives the wine its strength and finesse. The subsequent months in the bottle allow Mormoreto to refine and express its maximum elegance and potential. The bottles are aged in the cellar for approximately twelve months before being sold. The scent and taste of the Frescobaldi Mormoreto
Castello di Nipozzano Frescobaldi is a typical example of French grapes grown in Tuscany: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. A true Bordeaux blend, this Frescobaldi red wine is truly impressive. Powerful and robust, with abundant flavor, body, and character. The Mormoreto has a deep red color with purple hues. The aroma offers an explosion of berries, spicy notes of cinnamon and pepper, followed by aromas of oak and vanilla, as well as leather and tobacco. The Mormoreto has beautifully woven tannins and a powerful structure. And thanks to its 24 months of oak aging, it also has flavors of leather and tobacco.Product details
