Vintage Report
The 2024 harvest benefited from sunny afternoons and cool nights, creating an ideal balance of warmth and coolness for even ripening. This allowed the grapes to develop remarkable power and suppleness.
Viticulture on the Boekenhoutskloof estates where this white wine, The Wolftrap, is made, dates back to 1776. Grapes have been grown on the plots since that year, a fact that is clearly reflected in the nutrient-rich soil structure. In 1993, a group of entrepreneurs took over the plots and winery and embarked on a new phase. They built a completely renovated winery and mapped the vineyards. Some vineyards were replanted, and European grape varieties were also introduced. Current winemaker Marc Kent has a predilection for Rhone wines from France, and this is reflected in the style of this white wine, The Wolftrap. The bunches are raised with complete respect for nature, a characteristic that contributes to the purity of The Wolftrap wines.
The composition for the white The Wolftrap
Viognier, Chenin Blanc, and Grenache Blanc are grown for this white wine. Each grape contributes approximately one-third to this white wine. The beautiful blend of the grape varieties is perfect and creates a perfect harmony in this bottle of wine. The climate is ideal for the white grape varieties. Plenty of sunshine in the afternoon, followed by a drop in temperature during the evening and night. This creates the perfect balance between warmth and coolness, allowing the bunches to ripen very evenly. The old soil structure is a treasure trove for the vines; the roots absorb numerous nutrients, giving the grapes considerable strength and suppleness. All bunches are harvested early in the morning and rigorously selected. Only the finest are used in this white wine from The Wolftrap. What does The Wolftrap Wit taste like?
The grape varieties Viognier, Chenin Blanc, and Grenache Blanc together form a success story. This white wine, The Wolftrap, has been a hit for years. The joy begins the moment we open the bottle, as we smell a powerful aroma of citrus peel, apples, and a hint of fresh apricots. In the glass, it emanates a beautiful yellow with a green sheen. The most beautiful aromas emerge from the glass, revealing hints of white peaches, pineapple, and a lovely hint of oak.Product details
