This Le Canon Du Marechal from the Cazes winery is entirely biodynamic, and that's reflected in the taste: exceptionally pure and full-bodied. The vines are fifteen years old, producing ripe, full-bodied Syrah and Grenache grapes. These are rigorously selected, ensuring only the finest juice makes it into this red Le Canon Du Marechal Cazes.

Two hundred hectares of vineyards of Domaine Cazes

Today, Cazes is one of the largest organic wineries—and among the best. The winery now has two hundred hectares of vineyards and produces fifteen wines. This diversity stems from curiosity and a desire for experimentation, but more importantly from the wide variety of terroirs in this area. In fact, the cultivation and production methods are those of a small estate. The Canon du Maréchal comes from a terroir with clay, slate, and gravel—an ideal soil for ripening various grape varieties. The winery produces top-notch wines, all of which are highly prized. This red wine is made from 50 percent Syrah and 50 percent Grenache. The grapes are partially fermented traditionally with temperature-controlled cooling, while the rest is fermented modernly with carbon dioxide maceration to impart fruitiness. Quality is paramount at this winery, and only the finest grapes are good enough for their wines.

A smooth and pleasant red wine from Cazes

A beautiful dark red color is very promising. The aroma has hints of Syrah, such as pepper, herbs, and black fruit. The Grenache is also clearly discernible in the palate, providing a soft attack and a pleasant mouthfeel. The flavors we noted are supple and pleasantly soft, with a truly Mediterranean character. The Le Canon Du Marechal Syrah Merlot Cazes has a pleasant finish. The wine is best enjoyed as an aperitif or with roast poultry, white meat, and many red meats.
