Vintage Report

The 2021 vintage in Piedmont is rated as exceptional with a top score of 97 points. The wines are currently still tannic and youthful, meaning they will mature slowly and have excellent aging potential.
A world-famous winery in Roero, the Cornarea family replanted the Arneis grape in the Cornarea hills in 1970. Besides white wine, they also produce exquisite red wines from the Nebbiolo d'Alba grape. The winery is located in the heart of Roero, in the Cornarea hills. This is where the beautiful winery is located, as are the vineyards, which are in magnificent condition. It's immediately apparent that great care is taken over the vineyards and the size of their grapes. It's a true family winery, with father and mother Piero and Francesca, and their sons Gian Nicola and Pierfranco. Their rich history and extensive knowledge of Roero wines are thus passed on to their sons.

Wood aging for the Nebbiolo d'Alba from Roero

The vineyards are perfectly situated, on the southwest side at an altitude of 280 meters. The vines have been planted here since 1975 and they truly produce a bountiful harvest. The Nebbiolo grapes are somewhat reminiscent of Barolo, but shhh, don't tell anyone. When the harvest is ripe, it is harvested in the morning. Upon arrival at Cornarea, all the Nebbiolo d'Alba grapes are inspected. Any bad grapes are removed, and after pressing, this red wine is aged in oak for a full twelve months. It fully develops and gains considerable power.

Full and very powerful this Cornarea Nebbiolo d'Alba

The color of this Cornarea wine is ruby red with a garnet sheen. The aroma is complex, with aromas of roses and violets, and spicy notes interspersed with dried fruit. The flavor of Cornarea Nebbiolo d'Alba is warm with elegant, lingering notes of forest fruit jam, black cherry, vanilla, and oak. The ideal serving temperature is 18-20ºC.
