This 29 Grapes is a truly full-bodied and powerful Reserve Port. With this port, the Quinta do Portal family aims to create a port suitable for after-dinner dining. But let's take a moment to consider Quinta do Portal's long history. The Portal family owns 95 hectares of vineyards and has several so-called Quintas. Each area of the Douro Valley has a Quinta where the grapes best suited to the landscape are grown. The names of these Quintas are Quinta da Abelheira, Quinta do Confradeiro, Quinta dos Muros, and Quinta do Portal. The large winery and its long, spacious cellars are located near the town of Pinhão, the heart of the port region. Because Portal grows all the grapes themselves, they can completely customize the vineyards, and this is reflected in the pure Portal style. Today, they continue to produce the finest ports, maintaining the old traditions that are perpetuated by the family.
The unique composition of the Portal 29 Grapes Reserve
This Portal 29 Grapes Reserve Port is also made from local grape varieties from the Douro region. The grapes enjoy a wonderful climate with abundant sunshine and cooling winds. This contributes to a fantastic harvest that is harvested entirely by hand. The base for this Portal 29 Grapes is young port wines aged for five to six years in port pipes—authentic wooden barrels in which the port matures. Under the guidance of winemaker Paulo Coutinho and master blender Jeremy Bull, this port is blended with a small addition of older port wines. The result is a full-bodied and powerful port with considerable depth.Full and very powerful this Portal 29 Grapes Reserve Port
In the glass, it has a beautiful tawny color with a brown rim. Our senses are stimulated, and with our noses over the glass, we smell impressions of long-dried red fruit, interspersed with notes of raisins, coffee grounds, and a touch of spice. The palate is very refined, with a deep and powerful flavor. Beautiful impressions on the palate of ripe red fruit, accompanied by light spice and a hint of dark chocolate. The finish is full and complex, with powerful flavors of black fruit, spice, and a touch of vanilla.Product details
