Vintage Report
The 2021 vintage in South Australia (Barossa Valley) has been rated an excellent 93 points by Robert Parker. The wines from this vintage are described as early-drinking and very approachable.
The Blacksmith Cabernet Sauvignon is a regional blend from various vineyards in the district. The goal is to create a style of Cabernet Sauvignon that reflects the Barossa's terroir and Langmeil's philosophy.
24 months of maturation for this Cabernet Sauvignon
The Blacksmith Cabernet is dedicated to Langmeil founder Christian Auricht. Blacksmith Auricht moved from Prussia to Australia in 1842 with his wife and four children. There, he settled in the newly formed village of Langmeil, established a forge in the thriving trading post, and developed a mixed farm that included cultivating the first vines. Christian Auricht's original forge remains today and is part of the winery's cultural heritage. This powerful red wine from Australia is made from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety. The Blacksmith Cabernet Sauvignon Barossa Valley is clearly shaped by the Barossa's climatic and stylistic factors. This Australian wine can be described as a New World wine in the truest sense of the word, which is exceptionally impressive. At peak ripeness, the grapes for the Blacksmith Cabernet Sauvignon Barossa Valley are harvested exclusively by hand, without the aid of crude and less selective harvesting machinery. After harvest, the grapes are transported directly to the winery. Here, they are sorted and carefully pressed. Fermentation then takes place at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by 24 months of aging in French oak barrels, twenty percent of which are new.The seductive aromas of this Blacksmith
The selection process and winemaking method ensure that this wine is ready to drink now but also develops well in the bottle. The nose of this South Australian red wine seduces with nuances of black cherry, blackcurrant, mulberry, and plum. This velvety-smooth and dense red wine is powerful and versatile on the palate. Thanks to its vibrant fruit acidity, the Blacksmith Cabernet Sauvignon Barossa Valley is wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate with a long finish.Product details
