The 2023 vintage in Catalonia received an excellent score of 92 points according to the Robert Parker charts. The wines are described as youthful and still very much evolving.

A Spanish red wine unique in every way. Can Sumoi Garnatxa Sumoll is unique, and no other Spanish red wine can compare to this one. Its exuberant flavor, with remarkable depth and complexity, makes for an exquisite wine that will delight any wine lover.

The wines of Can Sumoi

Can Sumoi Garnatxa Sumoll is named after a 17th-century farmhouse in the Penedes countryside. It's a vast estate where grapevines have been planted for decades. One of the descendants of the family owners is Josep Matau, who was born on the farm in 1936. Now well into his eighties, he still remembers the farm and its estate as if it were yesterday—flowering vines and a vibrant industry. However, the farm fell into disrepair in the second half of the 20th century, and the wine industry collapsed as well. Fortunately, a few years ago, Raventos—a major player from Penedes—arrived. They invested in the farm and restored the vines, some of which were over fifty years old. Josep Matau saw the dilapidated farm return to the glory it deserved. In his old age, Josep is incredibly grateful for this and enjoys taking his ancient dog for walks in the vineyards.

Can Sumoi Garnatxa Sumoll is a balanced blend of the somewhat well-known Garnatxa and one of the greatest secrets of Spanish viticulture: Sumoll. What's special is that the grapes come from vines with an average age of fifty years. In this way, Raventos is bringing back old favorites like Sumoll. Can Sumoi Garnatxa Sumoll is the epitome of elegance and class: intense in flavor, yet everything remains beautifully balanced on the palate. Wild fruits such as berries, blackberries, and raspberries form the base. But also a touch of sour cherries with a silky edge are noticeable in the flavor of Can Sumoi Garnatxa Sumoll.
