Vintage Report
The 2022 vintage in Castilla y León received an excellent rating of 94 points according to the Robert Parker Vintage Chart. The wines from this outstanding vintage are promising and already show a beautiful, accessible character.
Attention, Rueda white wine lovers! This top-notch wine will quickly win your heart. This delicious white wine is made entirely from the Verdejo grape, the grape native to Rueda. The old vineyard for this Viña Oropéndola produces powerful bunches. The vines are between 40 and 120 years old. Thanks to the perfect clay and gravel subsoil and excellent drainage, the plants can reach this respectable age and still produce a good to very good harvest. The plants are planted in such a way that they can soak up every ray of sunshine during the day and can cool off and relax in the cool evening breeze. All these important factors create a very balanced growing season.
Manual harvest for this white wine from Rueda
At perfect ripeness, the winemaker begins the harvest very early in the morning. All grapes are hand-picked to ensure only the finest juice makes it into Viña Oropéndola. The harvested grapes are transported in small baskets to the winery where they undergo a gentle pressing. After a short aging on the skins, this delicious white wine ferments for three weeks at a low temperature. Then, it spends another two months on the lees to further enhance the wine's power and richness. This can only lead to a stunning result! What does Viña Oropéndola taste like?
Well, that result is certainly something to be proud of! What a fantastic glass of white wine this Viña Oropéndola is. On the label, we see a beautiful bird. This bird is called Oropéndola, or the Golden Oriole. A bird that is energetic, cheerful, and fresh. Just like this white wine. It's therefore no surprise that this wine from the Rueda region bears the name of the Golden Oriole. The color of the Viña Oropéndola, just like the bird, is a beautiful golden yellow. On the aroma, we noted slightly exotic notes of mango and kiwi, passion fruit, and floor wax—powerful and intense, pleasant with a hint of grassiness. This Vina Oropendola Verdejo Rueda has a powerful, dry flavor with good acidity and delicate bitterness, grapefruit, and good length. The mild finish makes this wine incredibly enjoyable.Product details
