Vintage Report
South Africa's 2021 vintage received an excellent score of 94 points from Robert Parker. The wines from this year are of outstanding quality but may still be a bit youthful and tannic at present.
The Bad Brothers Red wine is lightly oak-aged, giving it a balanced character. With soft tannins and fruity flavors, it's a drinkable wine guaranteed to please. The Pinotage grapes are grown on an 18-year-old vineyard on a slightly south-facing slope. The soil consists of clay and limestone, allowing the grape to develop unique characteristics.
Three generations of family wines
The Goedverwacht winery has been in the Du Toit family for three generations. Today, the family owns 180 hectares of vineyards with a diverse range of terroirs, soil types, and microclimates. This makes the wines distinctive and exceptionally elegant. The vineyards are located in the Breede River Valley in the Robertson district, near Cape Town. The warm and dry climate makes it ideal for viticulture. Together with winemaker Christiaan van Tonder, the Du Toits strive to produce wines of the highest quality that are appreciated, shared, and discussed by wine lovers worldwide. During the first week, the Pinotage grapes are carefully harvested. This is done at night to preserve their wonderful freshness. The grapes are then transported to the winery, where, after a two-day cold soak, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The fermentation temperature is controlled at 25 degrees Celsius. The wine is then pressed and transferred to another tank for three weeks of malolactic fermentation. Finally, the wine is aged for three months in French oak barrels before bottling. The soft tannins of Bad Brothers Red
As soon as we pour this dark red wine, we can immediately enjoy the delicious fruity aromas of strawberries and wild berries. Thanks to the short oak aging, this is complemented by a light oaky note. The palate is fruity yet soft, with rounded tannins. A very drinkable wine that certainly won't disappoint.Product details
