Vintage Report
2022 was een warm en droog jaar in Oostenrijk, wat resulteerde in een vroege oogst. De wijnen zijn over het algemeen rijp, fruitig en expressief, met een goede balans.
An anniversary cuvée from one of Europe's most acclaimed wineries. Located in the Alpine country of Austria, most wine drinkers wouldn't immediately expect a high-flyer. And that's a shame, because Austria has so much to offer when it comes to wine. The wines of Stift Klosterneuburg, in particular, are truly exceptional. This winery, which dates back to 1114, has an impressive track record. To celebrate their 900th anniversary (!), they released a special blend. With Stift Kloster Neuburg Cuvée Patronis, they show everyone that Austria is also a master of red wines.
The wines of Stift Kloster Neuburg
The winery was founded as far back as the 12th century. Count Leopold III commissioned the construction of the monastery on the outskirts of Vienna in 1114, which would later become the beating heart of Stift Klosterneuburg. The vineyards surrounding the monastery remain vitally important; however, white grape varieties are primarily grown here. At the Tattensdorf estate, located in the Lower Austria region, red grape varieties dominate. The grapes for Stift Kloster Neuburg Cuvée Patronis come from the Thermenregion vineyard. Here, varieties such as St. Laurent and Zweigelt are grown. Along with the headliner Merlot, they form the ideal base for Stift Kloster Neuburg Cuvée Patronis.Buy Stift Kloster Neuburg Cuvee Patronis wine
After harvest and fermentation, the entire wine matures for a full 20 months in wooden barrels, each with a fair balance of used and new oak. This almost iconic oak aging leaves you with the most generous bouquet of any Austrian wine. Wild berries and sour cherries, which are remarkably mild and smooth. The opulent palate practically explodes on your taste buds, bringing the flavors close to sweetness. Nevertheless, the taste of Stift Kloster Neuburg Cuvée Patronis remains wonderfully delicate.Product details
