Piedmont

Wines from Piedmont

Home to Italy's finest wines. Barolo, Barbera, Barbaresco, Gavi, and so on. Nothing but resounding names that wine lovers adore. Piedmont has been producing wine for centuries, and it still represents the absolute pinnacle. With a record number of classified wines, it's the cradle of fine Italian wines.

The Piedmont wines from Italy

Piedmont is a region located in northern Italy and is one of the most developed regions in Italy. The industrial city of Turin is particularly responsible for this. Bordering both Switzerland and France, it is therefore ideally situated for a visit. Piedmont is one of Italy's largest and most prominent wine regions. It's no wonder it boasts no fewer than 18 DOCG and 41 DOC wines.

Piedmont has always been a royal wine region. The most famous Piedmont wine, Barolo, was once enjoyed by kings. Barolo remains the most famous Piedmont wine. However, the winery has so much more to offer. How about a distinctive Barbaresco, which is also considered by connoisseurs to be one of the finest Piedmont wines?

The famous wine towns of Piedmont

Piedmont boasts many resounding names topographically. Besides the well-known, yet tiny, village of Barolo, it has much more to offer. How about Alba? Home to Barbera D'Alba. Try the Borgogno Barbera D'Alba to truly get to know this town. Or tiny Asti, where, in addition to Barbera D'Asti, they also make a sweet Moscato d'Asti. A sweet sensation where the Fontanafredda winery reigns supreme.

The vineyards in Piedmont

Wine is also grown in other parts of Piedmont, away from the well-known towns. Here, for example, you'll find the wine regions where Gavi de Gavi and Roero Arneis are produced. The latter, in particular, has become particularly popular in recent years. Roero Arneis is made from the Arneis grape. Many leading wineries now produce this beloved wine, such as Cascina Ghercina, Angelo Negro, and Paolo Manzone. Because if you don't make a successful Roero Arneis, you're out of the Piedmont wine business.

The Barolo wine from Piedmont

We've already mentioned it: the king of Piedmont. Barolo wines. No matter how you look at it, it remains one of the best wines in Italy; perhaps even in the world. With the distinctive Nebbiolo taking center stage, Barolo now boasts numerous renowned wineries. A top performer in our selection is undoubtedly Boroli. Their Barolo wines are heavenly, almost unrealistically good. The cream of the crop in the Barolo region, and Boroli's wines are truly worth trying.
