Vintage Report

The 2022 vintage in Sicily received an excellent score of 90 points according to the Robert Parker index. The wines are characterized by a youthful and still tannic profile, indicating promising development in the coming years.
This Insieme is produced entirely naturally, without chemicals. It's made without added sulfites, which was a major goal of the Santa Tresa winery. The name Insieme means "together," which refers to a joint project with a South African winery that had been producing this natural wine for some time.

The ideal terroir for Insieme Nero d'Avola

Santa Tresa was founded in 1697 and owns 50 hectares of land. Since 2000, it has been owned by Stefano and Marina Girelli and their business partner, Massimo Maggio. The winery is located in Vittoria, in southern Sicily. The grapes have been grown organically for many years, and the estate was officially certified in 2009. The vineyards enjoy a cool, southern climate that offsets the heat of the interior. Thanks to its location near Mount Etna, the soil is exceptionally fertile. The grapes are grown on the renowned Vittoria terra rosso on the Santa Tresa estate—the ideal terroir for Nero d'Avola. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand when they reach perfect ripeness. They are collected in small crates and gently transported to the winery. No sulfur is added throughout the vinification and bottling process. The grapes are carefully destemmed and then gently pressed. Fermentation then takes place between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius. After fermentation, the juice remains in contact with the skins for 3 to 4 days and has a total of approximately 15 days of skin contact. Finally, the wine is aged on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks for 2 to 3 months before bottling.

The delicious aromas of Santa Tresa Insieme Nero d'Avola

The result is an intense purple wine. The aromas are very fresh with notes of red berries and blackberries. The palate is round and soft, and the wine has a silky smooth character and is very pleasant to drink. This Insieme pairs beautifully with pasta dishes.
