The 2021 vintage for Sicily received an excellent score of 93 points in the Robert Parker Vintage Chart. The wines from this year are characterized as still youthful and tannic, with good aging potential.

When we first tasted this Donnafugata Sedara, we were instantly smitten. It's a unique blend of the finest grape varieties found on the island of Sicily. It's a blend of Nero d'Avola grapes with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah, among others. After being hand-harvested in the vineyards, this wine ferments in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius. The red wine then matures for nine months in concrete tanks and then another six months in bottle in the Donnafugata cellars. Only when this red Sedara reaches its perfect balance can it be served. Thanks to the Donnafugata winery, exquisite, top-quality Italian wines are produced. Since 1851, the passionate Rallo family has been producing wines on the island of Sicily. With their unique style, they have helped establish Sicilian wine worldwide. The estate is currently run by the fifth generation of the family.

At Donnafugata, they believe that a good wine reflects the land from which it originates. Therefore, they meticulously strive for perfection. The right grapes are selected from the right soil to ensure optimal development. Simple techniques are used in the winemaking process to allow the grapes to fully develop. Regular tastings are conducted throughout the process to determine the perfect timing for the next winery, and when the time is right, the perfect wine is bottled. This fantastic Donnafugata Sedara is a testament to the flawlessness of this process.

What does Donnafugata Sedara taste like?

The aroma clearly reveals the warm sun, with a bouquet of fresh red fruit, cherries, and red flowers. The palate is well-balanced with grapes, delicate notes of blackberries, cherries, and fresh strawberries. On the back of the tongue, we detected nuances of black pepper and plum in this Donnafugata Sedara.
