Vintage Report

Tuscany's 2023 harvest has received an excellent score of 91 points. The wines from this vintage are currently still youthful and promising.
The Ricasoli family has been spoiling us with their beautiful Tuscan wines for years, but now they've truly blown us away with their Albia Rosé. The idea arose to develop a rosé from the Sangiovese grape, known for its exclusive Chianti wines. After a long period of experimentation, the Ricasoli family reached their conclusion. This Albia Rosé is made from Sangiovese grapes that are allowed to "bleed" with a small portion of Merlot grapes. But it all begins in the decades-old vineyard in the heart of Tuscany, where the bunches grow in the ideal climate. Plenty of sunshine and cool winds and nights provide the vines with the best possible environment. At ideal ripeness, the bunches are harvested by hand and rigorously selected to allow only the finest bunches to "bleed."

This Albia Rose is a first-class juice

Yes, you read that right: "bleeding" bunches is a method of releasing juice from the bunches without pressing them, by stacking them on top of each other. The grapes are dumped into a large container, and gravity crushes the bunches, releasing juice. This beautiful juice is collected and considered "first-class juice." This also gives the juice its beautiful light pink color, the hallmark of this Albia Rosé. A small amount of Merlot is added later to give the rosé some depth.

The scent and taste of the Albia Rose Ricasoli

The color alone is a feast for the eyes and has been compared to a Provence rosé, a beautiful light pink with a reddish sheen. As soon as the bottle is opened, a lovely, fresh style greets you. The aroma reveals nuances of light red fruit, a touch of grapefruit, lime zest, and a touch of raspberry. The palate is wonderfully fresh and very elegant, with a richness of light red fruit and a lovely presence of red flowers, grapefruit, mint leaves, and a touch of refined, vibrant acidity.
