Our Review

You have to love those labels, they come from a rather Rock N Roll owner. But he does make some beautiful stuff. Many of his wines are genuinely approachable. Very pleasant, not too heavy, round, fruity, old leather.
Roel Timmermans Roel
This wine is the result of careful craftsmanship and the finest grapes from the Yakima Valley and Columbia Valley growing regions. Discover this beautiful wine and be enchanted by its rich flavors and aromas.

Passion for wines at Chateau Smith

Charles Smith Winery is located in Washington State and was founded in 2001 by the eponymous Charles Smith. He was a rock musician but decided to change his career in 1999. He then moved to Walla Walla, where he developed a passion for wine. He decided to shift his focus from music to winemaking. They use modern techniques and minimalist methods to preserve the flavor of the grapes. This red wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. The grapes are first carefully harvested from the Yakima and Columbia Valley growing regions. At the winery, a rigorous selection process follows, and the grapes are carefully pressed. Temperature-controlled fermentation then takes place. The wine is then left on the lees for 10 months to develop its flavors and aromas. Finally, 40% of the wine is aged in new French barrels. This imparts a subtle and elegant oaky note to the wine, adding complexity and depth to the flavors.

What does Chateau Smith Cabernet Sauvignon Washington State taste like?

It's a superb blended wine with a deep purple color. The aroma reveals a powerful bouquet of black currants, roasted coffee beans, and black pepper. On the palate, it's a structured wine with a deep and full character. Delicate spicy notes give the wine real dimension. The finish is long, making this wine a perfect choice for lovers of full-bodied and powerful red wines.
